چکیده

As computer systems continue to grow in power and access more networked content and services, we believe there will be an increasing need to provide more user-centric systems that act as intelligent assistants, able to interact naturally with human users and with the information environment. Building such systems is a difficult task that requires expertise in many AI fields, ranging from reasoning, planning, scheduling, natural language and multimodal user interfaces. In contrast to many approaches to building agent assistants where diverse AI components are stitched together at a surface level, we propose an approach, called ”Active Ontologies”, and a toolset, called ”Active”, where a developer can model all aspects of an intelligent assistant: ontology-based knowledge structures, servicebased primitive actions, composite processes and procedures, and natural language and dialog structures. We demonstrate this approach through an example prototype of an intelligent meeting scheduling assistant that communicates using instant messages and emails.

Ontologies for Interaction Protocols

In this paper we propose reducing the degree of human interpretation currently necessary to understand an interaction protocol by describing at an abstract level the required agent actions that must be ‘plugged into’ the protocol for it to be executed. In particular, this can be done by designing and publishing ontologies describing the input and output data that are processed during the protoc...

A Service Science Perspective on Business Modeling

Service Science proposes a new worldview on economic exchange. This paper aims at the creation of service system interaction models according to this new worldview using the Resource-Event-Agent (REA) and e3-value business model ontologies. The paper also specifies six design criteria to evaluate the ability of these business model ontologies to create service system interaction models. The pap...

Ontologies Supporting Intelligent Agent-Based Assistance

Intelligent agent-based assistants are systems that try to simplify peoples work based on computers. Recent research on intelligent assistance has presented significant results in several and different situations. Building such a system is a difficult task that requires expertise in numerous artificial intelligence and engineering disciplines. A key point in this kind of system is knowledge han...

Fault Detection and Isolation of Multi-Agent Systems via Complex Laplacian

This paper studies the problem of fault detection and isolation (FDI) for multi-agent systems (MAS) via complex Laplacian subject to actuator faults. A planar formation of point agents in the plane using simple and linear interaction rules related to complex Laplacian is achieved. The communication network is a directed, and yet connected graph with a fixed topology. The loss of symmetry in the...

Ontologies used for Competence Management

Developing multi-agent systems requires an adequate modeling of knowledge in order that the agents and the human person are able to understand and accept the concepts of domain area in the same way. Ontologies allow developing an coherent framework for a specified domain. Based on the concepts used ant the relations between them, the agents are able to understand, reason and act in the domain i...
